Official description

On June 12, 2026 the Department of War published a third release of files through PURSUE. The release adds multi-agency primary material: CIA-held foreign sighting records, FBI eyewitness video footage with supporting FD-1057 and FD-302 forms, NASA historical astronaut debriefings, and a four-page Intelligence Community Assessment on a specific incident (the Colorado Springs February 2022 case). The release expands PURSUE's contributing-agency footprint significantly beyond the DoD-internal scope of Release 01.

Editor's context

Release 03 is the broadest agency footprint to date. It is the first release with FBI video, the first with CIA contribution, and the first to include a formal IC Assessment as a primary document. Headline individual cases include Colorado Springs February 2022 (first ICA, prevailing explanation: low-confidence sunlight backscattering on snow), Harare International Airport July 2008 (CIA-held foreign sighting), Western US October 2023 (AARO Unresolved Case Analysis Update with five witness narratives), and the FBI Northeastern Orb video set spanning incidents from November 2021 through July 2025.

In the margins

Transcribed redactions, stamps, and handwritten markings, the paratext of the file. Often the most human part of a declassified document, and worth reading on its own.
