The sensor-video tranche. Sixteen DVIDS-hosted UAP videos across two new theatres. Quiet drop, no formal DoW press-release cycle we can find.

Release 05 shipped on 2026-08-07 with a batch of sixteen new DVIDS-hosted UAP videos: eleven from Department of War (six Gulf of Oman 2021, five Pacific Ocean 2019), four Middle East CENTCOM (2023 and 2025 mission windows), and one FBI-UAP-PR007 Northeastern US 2026 slow-moving-objects clip. Unlike Releases 01-04, we have not yet found a corresponding war.gov news-release announcement or a widely mirrored press cycle. The scope described here is what DVIDS enumeration surfaces as of this write-up. Documents and images that may accompany the release are not yet confirmed and are absent from this verdict until we can audit them.

What mattered

  1. Gulf of Oman 2021 cluster (PR117-PR122)

    Six new videos from the same September 8, 2021 event window (per DVIDS Date-Taken metadata) in the Gulf of Oman theatre. First substantive PURSUE cluster from that AOR outside the Iranian coast context. Analytically useful because six independent captures of what is effectively one event let researchers cross-reference sensor angles and motion.

  2. Pacific Ocean 2019 cluster (PR123-PR127)

    Five videos from a Pacific Ocean 2019 mission window. First PURSUE cluster from that geography outside the Nimitz 2004 canon. Notable as a large-file drop (some individual videos exceed 60 MB, longer duration than most earlier PR-series clips).

  3. FBI-UAP-PR007 Northeastern US 2026

    First FBI PR-series video past the R03 orb collection. Continues the Northeastern-US FBI thread with a 2026 incident. Small file (~1 MB) which typically means very short clip, but its presence signals FBI is still contributing to PURSUE at the video level, not just documents.

  4. Middle East 2023 and 2025 additions (PR134, PR136, PR142, PR149)

    Four non-consecutive additions to the ongoing CENTCOM Middle East video corpus. Sparse numbering (PR128-133, 137-141, 143-148 not present in the DVIDS video track) implies most of those numbers may belong to documents rather than video, awaiting confirmation from a war.gov audit.

What was overhyped or already public

  1. Coverage volume vs release footprint

    Any "biggest release yet" framing that appears in secondary coverage will overstate this drop unless documents surface. Sixteen videos is a video-heavy release comparable to R02 (57 videos, mostly short), not to R01 (162 records with docs and images).

What is still missing

  • War.gov press-release URL. Standard R01-R04 news pages are indexed at war.gov/News/Releases/Release/Article/…; the R05 announcement URL has not been located in the sources we can audit.
  • Documents and images. R05 may include D-series and image files that are not enumerable via DVIDS video search. This verdict reflects the video subset only.
  • Agency mix. CIA, DoE, ODNI, NASA contributions to R05 have not been identified in our discovery pass. If they exist, this verdict will be updated.
  • Total record count. 16 confirmed, unknown ceiling.

Verdict

Release 05 is what a fifth PURSUE tranche looks like when the pace has already been established and the news cycle has moved on. Sixteen confirmed videos, two substantive new geographic clusters (Gulf of Oman 2021 and Pacific Ocean 2019), one FBI PR-series continuation, and a scattering of Middle East CENTCOM additions. The interesting cases are the two clusters; the rest is incremental. Whether R05 is materially larger than what DVIDS surfaces depends on documents we have not yet confirmed. This page will be updated as those surface.
