Black Vault, Westall ↗Official description
Witness reports were filed with the Victoria Police and the Royal Australian Air Force. The case received Australian press coverage at the time. The Australian Department of Education's records of the event were partially preserved and have been re-examined repeatedly since the 1990s.
Editor's context
One of the largest mass-witness school UAP cases on record. Candidate explanations have included a Royal Australian Air Force balloon recovery operation that day. Some witnesses dispute that explanation as incompatible with the object behavior they observed. The case is treated by Australian researchers as substantially documented but the underlying nature of the observation remains contested.
